Fiano Torinese, 16th of September 2012. Gonzalo Fernandez Castaño (SPA) won the 69th BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi, the most prestigious Italian golf event in the European Tour, with 264 shots (68 65 67 64), 24 under par. The tournament was hosted for the fourth time in a row on the Royal Park I Roveri G&CC's course (par 72) in Finao Torinese. The 32 years old from Madrid has won over Garth Mulroy (RSA) after a tight match. Mulroy scored 266 shots (66 67 66 67, -22) ending two shots from the first place. Matteo Manassero finished his tournament at the 3rd place with a score of 268 (69 69 65 65, -20) shoulder to shoulder with Gregory Bourdy (FRA). Manassero ended the Open with a spectacular round (65, -7). Lorenzo Gagli had a good tournament: 27th place with 276 (69 68 68 71, -12). Francesco Molinari recovered from the 70th to the 46th place with 278 (68 6 76 65, -10) showing his best golf in the last round. The other two members of the European team playing the next Ryder Cup (Medinah CC, Illinois, 28-30 settembre), Martin Kaymer (GER) and Nicolas Colsaerts (BEL) ended at the 5th place with 270 (-18) joined by Pablo Larrazabal (SPA) and Gary Boyd (ENG) who realized the best score of the tournament (63, -9). Rafael Cabrera Bello (SPA) was slowed down by a 70 (-2) and placed at the 9th spot of the final ranking with 271 shots (-17). Robert Karlsson, who had the same Gagli's score, and Raphael Jacquelin, 46th place shared with Molinari, finished the tournament in the middle part of the ranking. José Maria Olazabal, Ryder Cup European Team captain, played a nice golf and collected a 65 leaving the uncomfortable last place for a 63th with a score of 281 (-7).

Fiano Torinese, 15th of September 2012 - Matteo Manassero recovered from the 36th place to the 5th with a score of 203 (69 69 65, -13) thanks to a brilliant third round in which he scored 65 shots (-7), the best performance of the day. Manassero was amongst the protagonists of the third round of the BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi, the most prestigious Italian golf event in the European Tour, hosted on Royal Park I Roveri G&CC's course. The Verona-born golfer is now 4 shots far from the new leader, Garth Mulroy (RSA) who is leading the tournament with a score of 199 (66 67 66, -17) and is aiming at the title in the final day. Lorenzo Gagli recovered some positions in the ranking as well, moving from the 22nd to the 16th place with 205 shots (69 68 68, -11) despite the backache he is suffering from. Francesco Molinari is now surprisingly out from the favorites list: scoring a 76 (+4) he is now at the 70th place with 213 shots (68 69 76, -3). Mulroy, 34 years old player from Durban and living in Raleigh in North Caroline where he attended università, has already won a title in the circuit in his homeland (Alfred Dunhill Championship, 2011). Francesco Molinari (68, 69) and Lorenzo Gagli (69, 68) are at the 22th place of the tournament ranking with a score of 137 shots at the end of the second day of the BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi, the most prestigious Italian golf event in the European Tour. For the fourth year in a row the Royal Park I Roveri G&CC in Fiano Torinese is hosting the event. Matteo Manassero follows Molinari and Gagli (36th place – 138). The other Italian golfers didn’t make the cut.

Francesco Molinari closed his first round with a score of 68 (-4) on the Royal Park I Roveri G&CC's course, ending at the 20th spot of the ranking at the end of the first day of the BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi, the most prestigious Italian tournament in the European Tour. Molinari is the first aongst the 26 Italian golfers playing the event and is now at a distance of 4 hits from Joel Sjoholm, leader of the tournament with a score of 64 (-8). Now living in Goteborg, the 28 years old Santiago del Chile-born Swedish golfer, who has never won a title in the European Tour and in the Challenge Tour, is followed by Lee Slattery (ENG) with a score of 65 (-7) and Richard McEvoy (ENG), Richard Bland (ENG), David Howell (ENG), Garth Mulroy (SAF), Keith Horne (SAF), Victor Dubuisson (FRA) and Gareth Maybin (EIR) with a score of 66 (-6).
